UOR Background
Since
1990, Under One Roof , a 501(C)3 organization, has provided $4MM in
unrestricted funds to Bay Area AIDS Service Organizations (ASO's).
Primarily, Under One Roof (UOR) operates a retail gift store managed by
a paid staff of 5 and dozens of dedicated volunteers . Its leverages
its retail and manufacturing industry relationships to procure donated
new merchandise/products as well unique purchased merchandise. Our
ASO's invest in our purchased inventory and in return we issue
bi-annual profit distributions to participating agencies. UOR generates
over $1.1MM in revenue annually.
In
addition to the core retail store operation (including a small web
store business), UOR produces several successful off-site sale events
and promotions where all inventory and retail space are donated. Our
volunteers help collect, setup and run these sales – turning donated
products into cash for our ASO partners. UOR also produces a huge
annual champagne and auction event called SparkleSF and engages other
traditional fundraising activities each year. We rely heavily on
community outreach and our volunteer base to help us successfully
produce SparkleSF, execute the off-site sales as well as provide
operational assistance in the retail store.
